We now know that organic food supports your health better than conventional agriculture, but what are the actual differences inside our bodies?
(Also non-vegan from point 15 🐂.)

Besides the antioxidants and toxin avoidance , here are some key reasons why organic plant-based eating makes a big difference:

1. Higher concentrations of antioxidants and phytonutrients: The natural Pharmacy

Organic plants must protect themselves from insects and diseases without the help of chemical pesticides. This allows them to produce more phytonutrients and antioxidants (up to 20-40% more). The MMV expert institute confirms that healthy soil leads to crops richer in these substances.  [1]

Research shows that organic crops can contain an average of 18% to 69% more antioxidant compounds. Organic sweet chestnuts, in particular, were found to have significantly higher polyphenol levels compared to conventional chestnuts.

These substances help to prevent or even reduce oxidative stress, which can be associated with chronic inflammation.

ScienceDirect/PMC: Recent studies highlight the nutritional benefits of organic nuts in terms of amino acids and vitamins, among others.[1.1]

2. Salicylic Acid and Vascular Health

Organic plants contain significantly higher concentrations of natural salicylic acid. Because the plant needs to defend itself against fungi, it produces this substance.

Natural salicylic acid has a mild blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory effect on the blood vessel walls. Organic foods help keep your blood vessels clean and supple.

3. Thyroid-friendly (Pesticide-free)

Many conventional pesticides are known as hormone disruptors. They can block iodine absorption or disrupt communication between your brain, lymphatic system, and thyroid. Pesticide Action Network Netherlands (PAN-NL) points out that even small doses can be harmful to hormone balance.

After all, you want to eliminate any external "interference" so that your thyroid gland doesn't go into saving mode, resulting in additional fatigue.

4. Less heavy metals and toxins

Organic farming prohibits the use of chemical fertilizers that often contain cadmium, a heavy metal that is harmful to the kidneys

Recent research (2024) has shown that conventional peanuts and walnuts often contain higher concentrations of mycotoxins (toxins from molds) than the organic varieties. [4.1]

5. No Glyphosate and your Gut Barrier

Glyphosate is often used in conventional agriculture. This damages the connections between your intestinal cells.

If your intestinal wall is already vulnerable, eating organic is the only way to avoid specific gut irritations, which is essential for calming any immune reactions . The Dutch Digestive System Foundation (Disturbance and Digestion Foundation) often emphasizes the importance of a healthy immune system barrier.

6. Lower risk of pesticides

Nuts have a high fat content, which makes them more likely to absorb chemicals. Because they often have soft shells, pesticides can penetrate right into the core. [6]

A 2019 study found that 29% of conventional nuts and seeds tested contained pesticide residues. These synthetic pesticides are prohibited in organic varieties, significantly reducing exposure to substances linked to hormone disruption. [6.1]

7. No Genetic Modification ( GMO ) in oils, among other things

Many common seed oils, such as soybean or canola oil, are derived from genetically modified seeds. Organic oils are, by definition, GMO-free. [7]

8. Gut health

If you already have increased intestinal permeability ("leaky gut"/IBS), herbicide residues can further irritate the intestinal wall.

Organic vegetables support a healthy gut microbiome. A calm gut means fewer immune reactions, which is crucial for stabilizing your bodily functions.

9. Mineral Density for your Energy

Organic farming often uses natural compost instead of artificial fertilizer (NPK). This means the plants contain more trace elements such as selenium, magnesium, and zinc.

Your thyroid needs selenium and zinc to function properly. If it's not functioning properly, every microgram of natural minerals can help rev up your metabolism.

10. Nitrate and Kidney Function

Organic leafy greens often contain less nitrate because no artificial fertilizers are used.

Lower nitrate levels mean less stress on your kidneys. This provides a direct way to relieve the burden on your kidneys.

11. Absence of "ripening accelerators"

Non-organic fruits (such as citrus fruits) are often post-treated with fungicides and wax coatings to extend shelf life.
Even though you wash them before use, there is a good chance that residue will remain on your fruit.

Even a little careless contact, which is almost inevitable, will force your liver to break down these substances. You want to keep the chemical burden on your liver as low as possible so it can focus on regulating cholesterol and triglycerides, among other things.

12. Organic and Sperm

While aging is a biological process we can hardly stop the damage from pollution, which directly attacks sperm quality. This results in "fragmented" or "misprogrammed" sperm that indeed negatively impacts the blueprint for the baby's health.  [12]  [12.1]  [12.2]

The father's less healthy living conditions are passed on to his offspring through sperm. That's why nature always chooses the healthiest father.  [12.3]

13. Biological and not yet conceived Child

A mother also shares this with her unborn child. Toxins are primarily passed on during pregnancy, although their influence sometimes begins well before conception.

Women are born with all their eggs. Recent studies from the University of Antwerp show that an unhealthy lifestyle (such as a diet high in sugar or unhealthy fats) can directly affect egg quality.

While you're not directly passing on "poison" in the sense of a physical supply, an unhealthy environment in the ovaries can alter the genetic programming of the egg.  [13]

Unfortunately, this placental filter isn't perfect. Many harmful substances such as alcohol, nicotine, heavy metals (lead), particulate matter, and certain chemicals pass through it and enter the baby's bloodstream directly via the umbilical cord.  [13.1]

Stored substances: Some toxic substances (such as PCBs or lead) that have been stored for years in the mother's fat or bone tissue, may be released during pregnancy and still reach the fetus.  [13.2]  [13.3]

Even after birth, certain substances can be passed on through breast milk, particularly those that are fat-soluble, but unfortunately this is even more true for artificial feeding.

14. Reel Organic better for the Teeth?

The higher concentrations of minerals such as calcium, magnesium and vitamin C in organic vegetables and fruits are essential for strengthening tooth enamel and healthy gums.

Eating organic reduces your exposure to synthetic chemicals and pesticides, making it much easier to support oral hygiene.  [14]

Organic products often contain less added sugars and artificial additives, which are the main causes of cavities and tooth erosion.

🐂🐂🐂🐂

Choosing organic meat could make a significant difference and even become a form of medication management.

Organic meat offers advantages in terms of animal welfare, the environment, and health. Animals have more space, free range, and are fed organic feed without genetic modification or preventative antibiotics. It contains fewer pesticides and sometimes more healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

15. Hormonal load

Non-organic or non-regenerative meat often contains residues of growth hormones and antibiotics, due to the hormone disrupting substances.
In a diet where you only eat that, these substances accumulate faster in your fat tissue.

Organic meat prevents your thyroid from having to process even more "noise".

16. Inflammation & Immunity

Non-organic meat often contains a higher ratio of Omega-6 fatty acids due to the feed (corn/soy) the animals are fed.

Omega-6 can promote inflammation. We want to keep the level of inflammation as low as possible to minimize nerve impulses.

Organic meat has a more favourable fatty acid profile that is less stressful on the blood vessels.

17. Liver and Kidney Burden

Regular meat often contains pesticide residues from animal feed. For better kidney function and stronger blood vessels, every reduction in toxins is important.

When you eat organic food, your filter system (liver/kidneys) has to process less "chemical junk", which means more energy is left for recovery.

18. Triglycerides

Processed, non-organic meat almost always contains not only synthetic additives (E-numbers), but often also additives such as sugars, artificial sweeteners or hidden fats to increase weight.

These directly contribute to higher triglycerides. Organically processed meat is "usually" purer in composition. Choose unprocessed meat.

♻️♻️♻️♻️

Organic foods give your body the "tools" (antioxidants) to recover, while conventional foods give your body extra "homework" (detoxification from pesticides).

By eating organic, biodynamic or regenerative food, you relieve your immune system.

So not only is it “healthier” for everyone, it’s actually a strategy to reduce the mechanical and chemical stress on your blood vessels and body filters (kidneys/liver).

Wishing you good health  💝 .

Jesse.
